Cottages
Situated on a north-facing slope with wonderful views of the Tsitsikama Mountains, the cottages are situated so as to create privacy and ample space for gardens.
When a cottage becomes available for re-sponsoring, in consultation with the new sponsor, FGV management determines whether an upgrade or renovation needs to be undertaken. This is done according to architectural guidelines ensuring the aesthetics of the village are maintained, whilst accommodating modern living standards. Walk-in showers, modernised kitchen cabinetry design and layout, folding stackable aluminium patio doors, are just a few of the options which become available, dependent on cottage size and features. All associated costs are discussed and finalised before sign-off and the work begins, and work is completed before the sponsor take occupation.
The majority of FGV’s areas including upgraded cottages and the Admin Centre are wheelchair-friendly.
Depending on your personal requirements and stage of life, there are a variety of homes to choose from. The village has 125 cottages ranging in size from 56m² to 263m², and levies are calculated per square meterage.

Pet Policy
FGV is pet-friendly, subject to approval and certain conditions.
FGV is pet-friendly subject to a written agreement, and certain conditions being met. Only dogs and cats are allowed in the village, and no other animals. If an incoming resident has more than one pet, permission must be obtained from management prior to their taking occupation. In the event of a pet’s death, replacement is not automatic, and permission must be made and motivated for.
In order to ensure a harmonious environment for all residents, the following rules and guidelines are in place:
- Dogs should have a maximum shoulder height of 450mm.
- If the dog tends to wander, a high picket fence, varnished, with gates must be erected.
- Owners are responsible for their pets at all times. They must ensure their pets do not wander unsupervised, foul the lawns, gardens and paths and within reason, take steps to curtail unwarranted barking.
- Residents may not leave their pets unattended when going away, but should either take the pet with them, or arrange for it to be kennelled. No pets may be left with neighbours, nor may any cottage be used to serve as a kennel.
- If a new pet is introduced and proves to be disruptive, the new residents will be asked to remove the offending animal.
